Trust is the latest creation I have completed. The feeling of it came to me some months back through color and layers when I was struggling to understand how to move forward in a world that seems to be moving in any and every direction and back again; but often not feeling forward. A swirling of motions, coming back on it’s self to learn, unlearn, relearn. The original concept for this was a literal path, our hearts knowing the way. Once I started painting it came about through as a simple heart, the color and feel of it setting the intention. A heart, the strongest organ within our bodies, universally recognizable by many, simple and just that. The workhorse, the power, questioning what this power looks like, a force and how to work with it. Trusting something so strong takes a softness, a delicate knowing to allow and not push, to receive. To open to the movement of something that just does, the charge that drives everything within our bodies. We must surrender, be vulnerable and allow the heart to do the work. The more I navigate through these days of unknowing, a harsh reality of everything being stripped away the only thing I can rely on is softening, allowing the dismantling of identities, structures and systems to unravel. There is a steadfast trust in this process of knowing that something better awaits on the other side, with every death is rebirth, new, beginnings, a fresh start to do it all over again. The challenge is the stepping forward with one foot in front of another, showing up and doing it again. Resting when needed, making the way on the path in whatever motion appropriate for where we are, allowing for our needs to be met along the way.
Alignment is a word that keeps making it way into the collective vocabulary, aligning with heart. To let the mind, the relentless chatter and fear to step aside and let the heart lead the way, let the power do the work. To align with heart is settling into that center space, listening to what wants to be heard. Walking blindly into the dark with our hearts being the vision and the primal knowing. Again to trust…
When we sit with our hearts and allow them to soften, to guide, there is nothing that needs to be done. I often take a seat on my meditation cushion, settle into breath, and feel how the breath flows through me, along my spine, through my center. Filling the lungs, expanding and compressing. Following the path of breath, where does it get stuck, blocked, what is released. Where does my heart guide me? What have I been ignoring and what surfaces when the distractions of the body calm down. What true sight remains?
Trust is acrylic on a wood panel. A stencil design was created for the background and then spray painted. The completion comes through many stages of layers to get to the finishing point, where everything feels right and complete. Artwork size is 24” x 36” and is currently available here in the shop. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for following and may your heart show you the path forward.
